Bank One’s revamped Web page is dull looking and cluttered, but the info is good, and it loads fast. The notice in the upper right corner (see detail below) confesses a glitch in processing info requests. Not a good first impression.

Bank One (Columbus, OH; $102 billion; 4.2 million ATM cards) finally launched online banking outside of Prodigy. The bank’s Internet offering is nothing fancy but it’s easy-to-use and costs just $4.95/mo including bill pay.
This is how a bill payment screen should work. Drop-down boxes to select payee and account to pay from; and an option to turn the payment into a recurring one.
Bank One is a sponsor of HomeByNet.
One of the more innovative online efforts at Bank One is its involvement with HomeByNet.com, a Web site jointly developed by Bank One Mortgage and Neologics www.neologics.com. Mortgage Watch allows users to specify a target interest rate or monthly payment amount. When the target is reached, the user is contacted. Cost is $9.95 for three years, a 67% discount from the “regular” price of $29.95. Price includes a quarterly newsletter. Unfortunately, the service does not currently have an online application form, severely limiting its appeal.
